Ants - Natural Controls
Destroy the queen and the colony will die or disperse. Perhaps the best way to destroy the queen is with boiling water. Make sure you have enough water to penetrate to the deepest part of the anthill, as that’s were the queen resides. Wait until late in the day, when most ants have returned from foraging, to flood the ant hills.Other natural means of ant control: Outdoor sprays with insecticide soap or citrus oil and some botanical pesticides. Indoors, remove sources of food. Keep counters and floors clean. Plug up cracks used as entryways by ants and store food in pest-proof containers. Use pyrethrum/silica gel or boric acid baits. Spray with soapy water.
